Singapore, 29 September 2025 - The Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA) today announced that Mr Edmund Koh has been appointed Chairman of its Board, effective 28 September 2025. He will succeed Mr Lim Boon Heng, Chairman of Temasek Holdings, who will retire from the PAA Board on the same date.
Mr Koh has served on the PAA Board since December 2023. He is currently Chairman, Asia Pacific at UBS AG, and Deputy Chairman of Sentosa Development Corporation. A career banker with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry across Singapore and the Asia Pacific region, he has built a strong track record in leading successful businesses and developed deep insights into Asian markets. Mr Koh also serves on the MAS Financial Centre Advisory Panel, the Wealth Management Institute, the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research, and the University of Toronto International Leadership Council.
Mr Lim is the founding Chairman of the PAA Board. Appointed Chairman of Temasek Holdings in 2013 after serving as a Director since 2012, he is also Chairman of NTUC Enterprise Co-operative Ltd. Mr Lim has held a distinguished career spanning both the private and public sectors. He led Singapore’s National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), served as a Cabinet Minister within the Prime Minister’s Office, and was a Member of Parliament from 1980 to 2011.
As PAA’s first Chairman, Mr Lim oversaw the Alliance’s launch and development as a catalyst for collaborative philanthropy, convening partners across sectors to tackle pressing global challenges. Under his leadership, PAA has grown to a community of more than 80 members and partners, which has collectively mobilised over US$37.5 million towards 19 catalytic projects across Asia.
“Mr Lim’s stewardship has been instrumental in establishing and guiding the Alliance to where it is today. I look forward to building on this foundation to further strengthen PAA as a platform for collaborative action across Asia,” said Mr Koh.
“It has been a privilege to serve as PAA’s founding Chairman,” said Mr Lim. “In a short time, PAA has brought together a diverse community committed to tackling Asia’s urgent challenges through collective action. I am confident that under Mr Koh’s leadership, the Alliance will continue to grow in both reach and impact.”
Mr Edmund Koh will assume the role of Chairman of the PAA Board with effect from 28 September 2025.
